If your dog barks every time it knocks on your door, it will usually bark at the alarm when a new, sudden sound is heard. This is a normal thing

We’ll take an example. If they see a visitor climb into your engine, they are “barking” to let you know that something is about to happen. Dogs may also bark when the phone rings.

To distract them from the current situation, try to distract them by giving them a verbal cue to bring up a game or go to bed.

Just as you by asking them to go to bed, you’ll also remove them from the situation which means you can continue to answer the door or collect mail.

Remember to reward good behavior with a reward as this will encourage them to do it again the next time you ask for it.
